Instrument Bank

The Reel Life Foundation is an Orkney music charity which has applied for a grant to set up a Musical Instrument Bank.

The first stage of the application depends on a public vote.

Please click on this link

https://www.calor.co.uk/communityfund/account/login/

and register , then search for Orkney and use all your 10 votes for Orkney Isles Music Instrument Bank.

I will let you know how we get on.

A few instruments have been donated to this charity to be made available for people to borrow for a limited period of time. Purchasing an instrument can be an expensive outlay, especially if you are unsure if you are going to “take to it” and you are not sure this is the type of instrument you want to learn.

We also are aware that many people have never had an opportunity to try different instruments and have always wondered if they would enjoy playing one, so we are committed to having “taster sessions” where people can come and have a try. Once we have obtained a good range of instruments we will have a traveling road show and visit the Isles and more remote Parishes.

We are regularly asked to hire out instrument to tourist visiting the Island as they wish to join in some of the informal “tune” sessions .This bank of instruments will be made available to them for hire.

If you have a musical instrument that is no longer used and is just gathering dust but is in good order, we would be delighted to accept it into our “bank”.

For further details please contact Wrigley and the Reel Life Foundation by via the website at  http://www.reellifefoundation.com/

Fund Raising

Like most charities we need funds to assist in our reaching our goals which include group and individual tutoring, taster sessions, concerts, music and story archives, music student bursaries and much more , so it would be marvellous if you could help support us.

There will be a fund raising charity concert  held for this charity on 29th May 2018 as part of The Reel Summer Concert programme where  support is given to local Orkney charities. See local press for more details.

We will be starting a 200 club in the near future …so watch this space.

Raffle

A raffle was held at the last Orcadian Summer Concert in The Rel on May14th. It raised £134 for the Reel Life Foundation
